Cookies and storage on your device

Version 1.5. Effective from 26 October 2026.

At a glance

  • No advertising cookies, and no tracking across other websites.
  • One cookie keeps you signed in. The rest are small notes the browser keeps so the app works.
  • Analytics that follow your use of the app run only if you say yes.

This page lists every one, what it is for, and whether signing out clears it. Strictly necessary storage needs no consent. Anything that follows you as a person does. Anonymous statistics sit between the two: we tell you, and you can turn them off.

How you found us is read from the link you joined with. No cookie. See the privacy notice.

Essential: needed for Dishcourse to work

No consent. Without these you could not sign in, keep a draft, or use Your Taste Map.

Anonymous statistics: on by default, easy to turn off

We count visits and page speed without cookies and without identifying you. Vercel does the counting. A scrambled form of the request is thrown away after 24 hours, so a visit cannot be tied to you. Addresses are stripped of anything you typed before they are counted.

Turn this off for this browser here. The same switch is in Account. Off stores one preference, dc.site-stats.v1, so we remember.

Anonymous statistics. We count visits and page speed without cookies or identifying you.

Product analytics: off unless you turn it on

If you allow it, when you join, here or in Account, we record which parts you use, how fast pages load on your device, and a view of the session, with what you type hidden. PostHog, in Germany, holds that. An AI service, Google in the United States, may review that view for PostHog to help us find problems. Your name, email, ingredients, cravings, diet and allergies are not sent. The only identifier is your account's random ID. Its keys in this browser, names beginning ph_, are removed when you turn this off or sign out. Events are kept 12 months. Replays are kept 30 days. AI review notes are kept 12 months. Saying no costs you nothing.
