Terms of use
Version 1.3. Effective from 26 October 2026.
At a glance
- Free while it is in beta, and unfinished.
- The AI can be wrong. Use your own judgement when you cook.
- Allergy filtering is a help, not a guarantee. Check labels and recipes yourself (section 9).
- You can delete your account at any time. Your ratings stay in crowd scores, without your name. We keep a record of what you agreed to for 6 years.
These terms are the agreement between you and Dishcourse. Read section 9 if you skip the rest. It is about allergies.
1. Who we are
Dishcourse is run by Kudakwashe Mutasa, trading as Dishcourse. Email: headchef@dishcourse.net, for everything, including your personal data.
2. What Dishcourse is
Dishcourse suggests what to cook and helps you plan a food shop. Recipes, ideas and weekly plans are written by AI from what you tell it. This is a private beta: unfinished, and free.
3. Who can use it
You must be 18 or over. The beta is for people in the places listed in section 9 of our privacy notice, and nowhere else yet. We do not check where you live. You need an invite from us or from another member. One account, yours alone. Keep your password to yourself, and tell us if someone else has used it.
4. Beta means unfinished
Features may change, break or disappear without notice. The service may be slow or down, and we promise no uptime. We may cap how many recipes or plans you can generate, and we may reset or delete beta data when the beta ends. You get at least 30 days' notice, and a way to download your data, before that deletion.
5. Acceptable use
Do not:
- share your invite publicly, or with anyone under 18;
- get around limits, break in, or overload the service;
- use scripts or bots to pull data from our servers in bulk;
- use the AI for anything unlawful, harmful or abusive;
- put other people's personal information into Dishcourse.
If you do, we may suspend or close your account.
6. What you give us, and what stays yours
What you type, save and rate stays yours. You let us store it, process it, send it to our AI providers, and use it to run and improve Dishcourse. When you delete something, that permission ends, except for ratings in crowd scores.
Your ratings in crowd scores. You let us count your ratings in scores other cooks see, such as "rated 4.3 by 12 cooks". A score is shown once at least 10 cooks have rated, and it never shows your name or what you alone said. We do not show your saved recipes, plans or individual ratings to other members. If you delete your account, your ratings stay in crowd scores, with nothing that links them to you. While you have an account, ask us and we will take them out.
Shared recipes. A recipe written for your request is not only yours. The same request from another cook may return that recipe, with nothing in it that says who asked first.
Our side. The software, the design and the name belong to us. The data behind Your Taste Map is built from openly licensed sources such as Wikipedia. We offer it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 licence. Our credits name every source and licence. These terms do not take away a right an open licence gives you.
7. AI-generated content
Everything the kitchen writes is generated by an AI model. It is a suggestion, and it can be wrong: ingredients, quantities, timings, temperatures, techniques, nutrition, calories, prices, and whether a dish suits a diet.
Use your own judgement. Dishcourse does not give medical, nutritional or dietary advice. If you have a medical condition, or a diet on medical advice, follow your clinician.
Prices and budgets are estimates. Check the shelf.
8. Ending things
You can stop at any time. Delete my account, in Account, removes the account and everything linked to it, straight away. Your ratings stay in crowd scores, with nothing that links them to you (section 6).
We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, or if the beta ends. Where we can, we tell you first.
9. Food allergies and intolerances
You can tell us what you are allergic to and what you avoid. We filter what we suggest, and we check every generated recipe against your list in our own code. That is a help, not a guarantee.
A recipe may still contain something you react to, or be contaminated with it. An ingredient may go by another name, sit inside another product, or be swapped in by the AI. Brands vary, and "may contain" warnings on a packet are outside anything we can see.
Read the label of every ingredient you buy, every time. If the allergy is serious, check every recipe yourself before you cook. Do not rely on the app alone. Follow your doctor or allergy specialist.
If you live in Kenya, do not enter allergies for now. Our privacy notice says why. No filtering applies, so check every recipe yourself.
10. Our responsibility to you
Nothing here excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not let us exclude.
Beyond that, because Dishcourse is free and in beta:
- we are not responsible for a loss we could not reasonably have foreseen, or that was not caused by our breaking these terms or by our negligence;
- we are not responsible for business losses, because Dishcourse is for personal use;
- we are not responsible for a loss caused by ignoring the warnings in sections 7 and 9.
You keep the consumer rights the law gives you.
11. Privacy
How we handle your data is in our privacy notice and our cookies and storage notice. They say what we do. They are not part of this contract, and you do not have to agree to them to use the app.
12. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. If a change matters, we tell you in the app or by email at least 14 days before it takes effect, and ask you to accept the new version. If you do not want to, delete your account.
13. Law and disputes
These terms follow the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also use the law and courts where you live. Outside the United Kingdom, you keep any consumer rights there that an agreement cannot remove. Write to headchef@dishcourse.net first if something goes wrong.
14. Contact and complaints
Everything, including data requests: headchef@dishcourse.net, or /privacy/complaint. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or to the regulator where you live.
